Gambling can be very, very bad. For most people, most of the time, it's fun. It's a bit like alcohol in this regard. And the numbers bare it out, about 95% of gamblers don't have a problem.

The question is then: what should we do for that 5%? [2]

I don't know, but it doesn't seem like what we are doing is working. And according to one source, compulsive gambling is at an all-time high.

I'm looking for ideas.

[2] I don't know what the threshold is, but at some point the number of people affected by something becomes too small for to be widely known. Basically every American has heard about efforts to curb gambling addiction as it affects millions of people. But almost no one has ever heard of research into spinocerebellar ataxia because only a few hundred Americans have that condition.

[3] This state comes from the National Council on Problem Gaming, who admittedly seems like have a baked-in incentive to exaggerate. But I want to believe them, so I guess I will.
